Scaly skin problem on forearm?

I have a scaly patch of skin on my forearm. One Dr. prescribed me an antifungal, Lamasil. That didn't work. He retired so I saw a new Dr. and she prescribed nothing! She said if it itches put Hydrocortisone cream (not what I wanted to hear). I just used that too for a bit but didn't notice a difference, so I stopped. Now it seems to be getting bigger. Any ideas of what it might be? My Dr. is useless.
