Signed document (from parents) proving I have sufficient funds to live in Germany?

I will be studying abroad for one year. I read on a few websites that I will need a document proving that I will be funded while I stay in Germany. Am I able to just write something up, print it out, and have it notarized? Or is there an official document that I am able to print?
