I peeled off water blisters from sunburn now it is painful. Help!?

I got a sunburn while watching a baseball game on Monday. The burn itself caused me a lot of pain, and since my legs were burned it was very hard to walk. Yesterday (Friday), everything felt fine on the burnbexcept a small area on my right arm near the shoulder. It got itchy, and I scratched it. It felt wet, so I looked, and I had a lot of tiny blisters on that area. I tried to leave it alone, but I ended up scratching it and all the blisters popped and most of the skin got peeled off. Now the skin is red, scaly, and tough, but also very painful. I see lots of sites telling me I was stupid to peel it, but I need to know what to do for it now.
