Is daktacort cream safe to use on penis?

I have a problem where the skin on my penis when I wake up in the mornings is very dry, this could be caused from intense scratching of the area but that was over a year ago and the skin healed leaving some scarring. When I masturbate the skin goes scaly and dry looking and generally unpleasant. I've been prescribed daktacort cream by the doc, at first I was reluctant to use it but have decided to now. I was wondering if its safe to use, I presume it is as otherwise I wouldn't have been prescribed. I just need some reassurance, im not sure what my problem is and any advice would be welcomed.
