With all the cancers and such i'm wondering about a patch on skin on the bridge of my nose?

I've had this for the past few years and i usually pick it off, it bleeds a little goes away then returns. my dad and brother had skin cancer. when i wash the area it bleeds easily. if i leave it alone the scaly parts just gets thicker. i haven't asked the dr yet because it seems like i'm real sick when i go in. i'm 55, when i was younger that's the part that always got burned first. anyway upon looking closer i noticed that there seems to be a thicker layer of skin on my nose. i try not to look to close but sometimes ya gotta. i would appreciate any comments. thanks you and alot of you are very intelligent people. have a great summer.
