How can I get rid of dead skin cells?

After using my Proactiv 3 step system my skin gets really dry in a few minutes and then when I look closely at the mirror I see like these flaky dry stuff all over my face ! It's really annoying.. Before I started using Proactiv this stuff never happened. How can I get rid of my dry scaly face? BTW the Proactiv green tea moisturizer doesn't work !!!! gosh I wasted my money on this garbage !
