Will theft appear on my criminal background?

I've been hired at a place to be an employee and they're asking for a criminal background check. When i was 12, i was caught shoplifting. I was arrested, and only had to pay $500 to the company. I was wondering if this would appear on my criminal background because i really want this job. I'm 15 now. I heard that as long as you're not finger printed, it won't be on your criminal background. Please answer! Thanks!
